Two years, minus 5 months! This is how long I have known, ya, Albert!
Now, I confess here and now, that purchasing a horse off of the internet was
completely a crap shoot. The possibilities were endless, and so were the pitfalls.
But, and this is a big but...
Albert Jordan, aka, Benatus, has been a super blast.
This was taken July 2003. Albert is at the height of his sunburned self, but
does he mind, does it bother him?
Not a bit, he is loving his leg-stretching, hang-timin', that he's having out in pasture.
He's been through two Natural Horsemanship classes by this point, which really were for me,
and has such excellent ground manners that I only need to give him a chance to understand what I want.
...and to allow for his goofy sense of humor!
Pick up a hoof, he will act silly about it, but then I
go to the other side, and he has the other one in the air, and I know he's laughing!
In this photo, he wants to play with the lead rope more than anything else.
His conformation these days is showing his growth, and it's been a seesaw of shoulder and hip growth.
What is nice, well, that he's going to be a nice sized big boy, perfect all arounder, and a
great mental attitude.
He's got a massive pasture, and even more fun for him, in spite of his occasional injuries
(which are decreasing as he realizes his place in the universe!) the playtime, social time
and status time that he gets by being out in pasture has really made my life soooooooo much better!
Now we are longeing (I finally write this in November!) and both of us have learned that there
is no need to worry, to relax and listen, especially what I have learned from him.
Here is a photo of Albert in pasture doing what he loves most! Hanging out and eating!
Currently, the demand for Premarin is declining, but it's a fools bet to imagine that the PMU
industry will vanish. Certainly there is decline, but the wide variety of uses for the pregnant
mare's urine will continue. My hope by authoring this site, by explaining my experience with
one foal, that others will consider adoption. This may be a lightening rod issue of debate for some.
But, for me, it is four legs, a big white blaze an intelligent eye, and a cute set of elfen curly-cue
ears that would be at a feed lot. I am so glad that I made that choice! I never solicit compliments,
yet, people are generous with them.
So, if you have room for one of these great PMU foals (or Mares) see FoalQuest for
more information!
You will definitely be pleased!!!
Oh! And here is the view from Albert's pasture on that day...
The hour was late, it was a hot summer day, and I was kicking back with Albert!
